Cleaning instructions

When cleaning leather, it is important to always pre-test the cleaning solution on the leather in a discreet place to ensure no colour transfer occurs from the leather to the cloth. Do not proceed in cleaning the leather if you find there is a transfer.

  1. If the leather is very grubby or has been cleaned with other products use HG Deep Cleaner for leather first.
  2. Dampen a clean cloth with HG Deep Cleaner for leather and wipe over the surface with a gentle circular movements without exerting any pressure.
  3. Allow HG Deep Cleaner for leather to work into stains for 10 to 30 seconds before wiping off any loosened dirt with a clean cloth.

When cleaning a large surface, regularly change the cloth so that no-dirt is rubbed back into the leather. After approximately 30 minutes treat the leather with HG 4 in 1 for Leather.

Dampen a clean, lint free cloth with HG 4 in 1 for Leather and as before gently rub the product in the leather in circular movements. After 10 minutes gently buff the leather to increase shine.

HG Water, oil, Grease & Dirt Repellent for leather can be applied afterwards to protect the leather against rapid resoiling.

PLEASE NOTE: that HG Leather Cleaning products are not suitable for ‘open’ leather such as suede, nubuck or leather where the top layer is entirely worn. Always read instructions before use.

Alternatively, Prochem offer a range of products for the Professional to clean leather.

  1. Firstly, like with the HG range pre-test the leather for colour transfer.

  2. Use Prochem E672 Leather Cleaner and work the cleaner into the hide using circular motions.

  3. In areas of heavy soiling, it is worthwhile using a Tamipco brush to loosen soil.

  4. Prepare a solution of Prochem B109 Fibre & Fabric Rinse diluted at 50ml per litre of water. Immerse a clean cotton towel in the solution and then wring it out until damp and go over the area just cleaned to remove soil and cleaner.

  5. To finish off the clean it is important to condition the leather, replacing natural oils that are removed through cleaning. Begin by testing the product for any colour transfer.

  6. Spread the Prochem E675 Leather Conditioner evenly to the leather using a slightly damp white towel. A thing to remember, is to use it sparingly, less is better.

  7. Leave the solution to dry for about 5 minutes then buff with a clean, dry white towel.
